The Jackson Heights FFA Chapter competed in the Kansas State FFA Career Development events this past week on May 1st through the 3rd. They had a lot of success in both individual and team competition.
In the Horse judging competition, Joel Nelson earned high honors, being named the high individual overall as well as placing first in the reasons competition. Judd Nelson was 23rd, Lance Coe was 34th, and Lane Holliday was 48th. Their team was 3rd overall.
In the Vet Science Competition they also had success, with Joel Nelson placing 2nd overall individually and their team placing 27th. Other team members we also Judd Nelson, Brianna Cattrell, and Jenna McAllister.
In Livestock Judging Joel Nelson was 20th, Judd Nelson was 53rd, Lane Holliday was 142nd, and Lance Coe placed 161st. Their team placed in the top quarter receiving 15th out of 94 teams.
Ag Sales was also a success for Jackson Heights as the team of Joel Nelson, Lance Coe, Lane Holliday, and John Kennedy placed 7th overall.
In Dairy Judging their team did very well, and was the highlight of their day. Joel Nelson was named the 1st overall individual, Brianna Cattrell was 11th, Lane Holliday was 26th, and Lance Coe was 30th. Their team ended up winning the dairy cattle Judging competition placing 1st out of 50 Teams. They now get the opportunity to compete at national competition in Indianapolis, Indiana next fall at the 2016 National FFA Convention.
