Jackson Heights Plans Honor Flight VI PDF Print E-mail

Honor Flight is a wonderful way to recognize American veterans for their sacrifices and service to our country.  Jackson Heights is extremely proud to give back to veterans in this way through the generosity of donations and fundraising events.  Honor Flight VI has been scheduled for September 17, 2015 and we have spots available for veterans who are interested in going to Washington D.C.

Who should apply to go on Honor Flight VI?  Top priority is given to WWII and terminally ill veterans from all wars.  Honor Flight has been expanded to include Korean and Vietnam veterans.  Four WWII veterans and nineteen Korean veterans went on Honor Flight V in 2012.  Please contact the USD 335 District Office at 785-364-2194 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Football Field and Track Renovation Underway PDF Print E-mail

Exciting times are underway for the Jackson Heights faithful-- after many years of consideration and need, the Board Members made the decision in early June to move forward with renovations on the aged running track on the school premises. But theses changes won't just effect the JH track and field athletes. In the process of planning, it was determined that poor drainage under and around the track were causing problems not just for the track, but the football field, too.

Work is progressing quickly. Within days of the renovation decision being made, Brahma Excavating of Holton set to work dismantling the eight inch thick asphalt surface of the main track as well as the jumping runways. Following that, the sod of the football field was torn out, and now, the process of leveling the field and addressing drainage issues is underway.

There is good reason for the swift pace of the project, since completion prior to the start of football season is the goal. Many thanks to volunteer work of many of our board members, assistance of local businesses in getting supplies and materials, and to the Jackson Heights Educational Foundation for a generous monetary donation. Check back here frequently to see updated pictures as the project continues.
