Jackson Heights High School recognizes Emma Sides and Jace Doyle as October’s Seniors of the Month.
Emma Sides has made the most of her time in high school by participating in a number of sports and activities and making lasting memories with her friends. One of those memories was created this past summer, while attending a basketball camp at Pitt State. “It [camp] was a lot of fun, and it was one of my favorites throughout my four years. The basketball part was fun, but creating lasting memories with my teammates was what I will remember the most,” said Sides of her time at camp.
Throughout her high school career, Sides has been active in volleyball, basketball, track, STUCO, JCYC, FBLA, Pep Club, FCCLA, Cobra Mentors and Honor Flight.
After graduation, Sides plans to attend Fort Hays State to major in Communication Sciences and Disorders, where she is also considering obtaining a minor in Psychology, with the hopes of becoming a Speech Language Pathologist after completing her degree program.
Jace Doyle has moved through his senior year with one major goal: to leave a positive lasting impact on younger students. Working to achieve this goal has led to Doyle being active in a number of Cobra clubs and sports. Throughout high school, Doyle has participated in football, basketball, baseball, FFA, FBLA, and Shotgun.
One thing Doyle wishes he could have done differently during high school was to push himself to sample new activities. “If I could change one thing about my time in high school, I would have chosen to be involved in more things earlier - joining clubs, trying new activities, and ultimately stepping out of my comfort zone. I realized later on in my life how much experiences like those help you grow as a person,” said Doyle.
After graduation, Doyle plans to attend college and study an agriculture-based major.
Through their academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities, Emma and Jace exemplify what it means to be a Cobra. Congratulations to October’s seniors of the month.
