Jackson Heights High School has named Coralynn Karns and Talen Browning November’s Seniors of the Month.
Throughout her high school career, Coralynn Karns has been active in cross country, cheer, archery, band, Washburn/Highland art day, scholars bowl, and the school play.
Many of her favorite school memories include time with her friends, “laughing, yelling, or fighting each other over a long heated card game or being the loudest kids laughing in the lunch room back when the lunch room had rectangle tables - I will always cherish those memories,” said Karns.
After graduation, Karns plans to attend Highland Community College for an associates in science, and then an out of state college for a bachelor’s in Integrative Health. While pursuing her degrees, she hopes to continue creating and selling artwork as a hobby.
Talen Browning says his biggest accomplishment in high school was when he became Stuco President, but he wasn’t stopping there. Browning still has goals to crush while finishing his senior year, including trying to make it to State in track, powerlifting, forensics, and FBLA.
Aside from being incredibly ambitious, Browning has kept busy throughout high school by participating in track, cross country, forensics, powerlifting, Student Council, Pep Club, Cobra Mentors, FBLA, JCYC, and the school play.
Browning would love to travel the world, at some point in the future. However, his immediate post-high school plans include attending Highland Community College, where he will run cross country and track before transferring to Kansas State University to obtain a bachelor's degree in News and Sports Media.
Through their involvement in extracurricular activities and commitment to academic success, these two seniors truly embody what it means to be a Cobra. Congratulations Coralynn and Talen!
