Drake Mellies has officially committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at Doane University, signing his letter of intent to play football for the Tigers in Crete, Nebraska.
Mellies, who has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication on the football field, will join the Tigers program beginning next season. Doane University, a NAIA institution located in Crete, Nebraska, competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), one of the premier conferences in the NAIA.
The signing ceremony marks the culmination of years of hard work and preparation for Mellies, who has earned this opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. Family members, coaches, teammates, and school staff gathered to celebrate the milestone achievement.
"I've worked for this opportunity for a long time, and I'm excited to join the Tigers family," Mellies said during the signing. "The coaching staff at Doane believes in me, and I'm ready to contribute to the program however I can."
Doane University's football program has a rich tradition of developing student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. Mellies will join a Tigers team that consistently competes for conference titles and postseason berths.
