Brooke Slipke and James Bottom have been named JHHS Seniors of the Month for February.
Throughout her time in high school, Slipke has been heavily involved in FFA, where she served as a chapter officer for three years, currently as the Vice President and the KS NE District Sentinel. She is also an avid participant in 4-H, where she currently fills many roles including State Youth Council Secretary, National Conference Delegate, North Jackson Jets President, Jackson County Council President, and County Ambassador. Slipke has also been active in many school clubs and activities, including Cobra mentors, NHS, Honor Flight Guardian, cross country, JCYC, track, pep band, and forensics.
After high school, Slipke plans to attend Oklahoma State University, to major in Agriculture Education, minor in Animal Science, and continue photography at the college level.
During his time in high school, Bottom has been active in scholars bowl, band, track, forensics, STUCO, FCCLA, and E-sports. Bottom has also participated in both district and state band.
One of Bottom’s most meaningful connections made in high school was with Dr. Marco at the University of Kansas. He heavily credits the impact of this meeting with his decision to attend KU after graduation, where he plans to get his masters degree in Oboe and Jazz Saxophone performance.
Brooke and James have shown a commitment to academic excellence, and Cobra core values. We congratulate them on this achievement.
