May SOTM

Alexis Richter and Sean Wilder have been named Jackson Heights High School’s May Seniors of the Month.

Throughout her high school career, Richter has been active in FBLA, FCCLA, JCYC, Stuco, track and field, volleyball, Honor Flight, and Cobra Mentors. Such a high level of participation in school activities definitely helped Richter learn the importance of learning to juggle it all. “I would say my biggest achievement in high school is probably learning how to balance my social life and academics,” Richter said.

After graduation, Richter plans to major in Political Science at Washburn University, where she will later attend law school.

Sean Wilder is a member of eSports and Student Book Club. When he’s not busy studying or reading, Wilder can often be seen researching ornithology or writing.

Wilder claims that some of his most important connections made throughout high school were the relationships he was able to build with school staff. “Mrs. Alley and Mrs. Sides helped me greatly when I first transferred to this school. Various teachers have inspired and motivated me to pursue my dreams,” Wilder said.

After graduating high school, Wilder will pursue his Bachelor of Science in Zoology at Emporia State University. He hopes to later attend Kansas State University for a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Wilder is also considering the possibility of publishing his creative works.
