Jackson Heights High School is pleased to recognize seniors, Blaine Burdiek, Alexis Deneault, and Ethan Gulotta in the month of September.
Burdiek’s favorite memory at Jackson Heights was the overtime football game against Olpe during his junior year. Throughout his high school years, Burdiek has been involved in football, basketball, E-sports, Cobra Channel, and the High School Play. His biggest accomplishment, according to him, has been serving as the voice of the Cobra Channel during the basketball season. After high school, Burdiek plans to attend Fort Hays State University to pursue a career in radio and sports broadcasting. His advice for all underclassmen is to get involved, whether it be a small thing like Esports or a big thing like football.
Deneault says her favorite memory at Jackson Heights was making a mousetrap in Mr. Henry’s science class. Throughout her high school career, Deneault has participated in cross country, FBLA, JCYC, cheer, track, Cobra Mentors, Honor Flight, and Pep Club. Deneault considers her biggest high school accomplishment her induction into the National Honor Society. After high school, Deneault plans to decide her future later and focus on the now. Her advice to all underclassmen is to be yourself and not force yourself to fit in with everyone.
Gulotta’s favorite memory at Jackson Heights was playing cards with close friends during Mr. Moore’s band class. Throughout high school, Gulotta has been active in Concert Band, Pep Band, cross country, shooting sports, Forensics, the school play, Model United Nations, Jazz Band, E-Sports, Cobra Channel, Student Council, Student Government, Gifted, Pep Club, Merge Midweek, National Honors Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Soldier Christian Church, Jackson County Community Band, Atchison Community Band, and District Band. Gulotta says his biggest accomplishment is that, even in his senior year, he still enjoyed going to school. After graduation, Gulotta plans to attend university for Clinical Psychology or Licensed Counseling. His advice to all underclassmen is that there’s so much to do in and out of high school, so enjoy your time and find opportunities that make you happy.
